Official Church Statement concerning Former Staff Member Thomas Pinkerton

Update: Thomas Pinkerton Guilty Plea
On Monday, June 8, 2026, Thomas Pinkerton appeared before Baltimore County Circuit Court Judge Mark DeSimone. As part of a plea agreement Thomas Pinkerton pled guilty to one count of sexually abusing a minor between the years 2007-2009. Judge DeSimone accepted the plea and sentenced Pinkerton to the maximum 25 years in prison, with all suspended but 4 years that he will serve in a Maryland Penitentiary. Upon release he will serve 5 years on monitored probation and register as a sex offender for the rest of his life. His sentencing hearing will be in December. Our hearts are broken for these young men and the loss that each of them has suffered at the hands of this individual. The family and leadership of Central continues to pray for them and to support them and their families as they process through this trauma. Our priority remains the safety of our children and we continue to search out new and greater ways to ensure, to the best of our ability, that this never happens again. As Pastor Larry said previously, “There is absolutely no place for abuse, ever, In the church”. No other statements will be released at this time.
